Our investigation began with a simple online search and even before we created the free account on LocalHookUp.com we could already read the complaints and reports from hundreds of other users who fell into the claws of this fraudulent and so-called dating service. In this article we will review LocalHookUp.com and we hope our findings can help prevent other people from getting scammed and ripped off. So, continue reading.
LocalHookUp.com is not a free dating service
Although LocalHookUp.com claims to be 100% free – this is far from the truth. You should be extremely cautious around an online dating site that asks for your credit card information, even though it builds its reputation as a free-of-charge dating service. Here is how much LocalHookUp.com will be charging your credit card monthly:
GOLD Membership
- $49.95 for a monthly subscription (automatically recurring)
VIP Membership
- $39.61 for a monthly subscription to VibeVideo.com (automatically recurring)
- $28.87 for a monthly subscription to VideoErotic.com (automatically recurring)
What are you paying for?
If you think that you are getting valuable services for your money and that you can find a real date or meet a genuine person on this site, unfortunately that may not be the case. Here is why.
1) Computer-Automated Messages
Shortly after you sign up and create your “free” profile, you will start getting messages from women who want to communicate with you. We did set up a profile on LocalHookUp.com and started getting messages from female members even though our profile was still empty (we didn’t even have a single picture). Now, who would like to contact us when they don’t even know how we look? The messages raised our suspicions that all communications on this site were actually done by computer software and not by real site members. We found proof for our suspicions on LocalHookUp.com Terms and Conditions page.
TERMS OF USE EXCERPT: “You further understand, acknowledge, and agree that, from time-to-time, LS may contact Website and Services users and members via electronic messaging, including for example, email, instant messages, and SMS, for purposes of encouraging further or broader participation in our site’s Services and/or to monitor user activity.”
2) Fabricated Member’s Dating Profiles
First we concluded that the email and chat messages were fake and computer-automated. So we continued our investigation only to find out that the ladies sending you those messages are also NOT real. In fact, almost all women on LocalHookUp.com are fabricated dating profiles, created by the site to make it look like there are many women you can meet. You can recognize them by the “LS” logo they are all labeled with, which stands for “Love Stars” – as they are called.
TERMS OF USE EXCERPT: “You understand, acknowledge, and agree that some of the user profiles posted on this site may be fictitious or models or bots related to our “Love Stars” (LS) program. Our LS work for the site in an effort to stimulate dialogue with users and to stimulate user participation on the Website and Services.”
The verdict on LocalHookUp.com
Our most sincere advice to you is to stay away from this site. It uses every trick in the book to scam everyone who is naïve enough to fall for their frauds. Another tip from us is to ALWAYS read the terms of use before you agree to anything on a dating site online.

Site looked genuine for me. Paid gold member subscription but cannot access features promised. Membership recurring. What is best way to stop payments?
There should be a number on your billing statement. Call it and have them cancel your subscription. They’ll need I believe your user name and credit card last 4 or all of it. I’m not possitive, but they will at least need some numbers of your card. Or else you can just cancel your card.
I never signed up just started getting random messages with actual personal info being stated I want this shit gone
